The tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul has already left 85 people dead, according to a Civil Defense bulletin released late this Monday afternoon (6). Four more deaths are under investigation to determine the cause, that is, whether they were caused by the floods that hit the state.

Authorities report 339 injured, 134 missing and more than 201,000 people are away from home, 153,824 of whom are homeless and 47,676 in public shelters.

The rains, which caused flooding in most of the state, have already affected 1,178,226 people from Rio Grande do Sul in some way. The number of municipalities rose to 385.
