Samara announced to a group of parents that, on Monday (22), Alicia had a notebook stolen. All the pages of a survey were torn out, racist attacks were written and, finally, the notebook went to the school’s lost and found area.
After Veja’s publication, Samara thanked her for the support on social media. “Let it be very clear to those who come to support. I deeply appreciate the affection, but white children and teenagers DO NOT SUFFER RACISM.”
In contact with Splash, Samara stated that she opened a police report with the São Paulo Civil Police to report a case of racism against her daughter. The case will be forwarded to the 14th DP (Pinheiros) for appropriate measures, according to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat. “The aforementioned case was registered as racial or color prejudice at the Electronic Police Station. The mother of the minor, aged 14, stated that there was a text containing a racist slur in the teenager’s notebook. The school’s coordination was promptly contacted,” said the agency in a note.
Developments of the case
Students responsible for the racist aggression were suspended. In addition to the indefinite suspension, the school also prohibited them from participating in a trip planned for students. “We emphasize that other punitive measures may be taken, if we deem it necessary after our intense educational debate, also considering the unequivocal fight against racism”, continues the text shared with the families.
The parents of one of the students involved in the case announced, also in a statement to parents of 9th grade students, obtained by Splashthe girl’s “voluntary departure” from school.
