The plot will retell the story of the vampire Count Orlok and his reign of horror in Germany, threatened when he falls in love with his real estate agent’s wife. The original feature debuted in 1922 and revolutionized the way horror was produced at the time.
Lily Rose-Depp (The Idol), Bill Skarsgard (IT: The Thing), Willem Dafoe (The headlight), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train) and Nicholas Hoult (The Menu) are confirmed in the main cast, with Eggers responsible for both direction and script.
We know this is a reimagining, and the description says: “A gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgard) who stalks her, bringing untold horror in his company.”
Dafoe received an Oscar nomination for The Vampire’s Shadowa drama that also has Nosferatu at the center of the narrative.
