Cars belonging to Taylor Swift’s entourage were seized after authorities received a report that the vehicles had their license plates covered in black plastic, according to the Rio Civil Police. The case is investigated by the 14th Police Station in Leblon, south of Rio. Drivers may be held responsible for the crime of hiding or tampering with vehicle identification signs. The report contacted T4F, but had no response at the time of publication.
A team from the police station went to the hotel where the artist is staying to investigate the case, which occurred on Thursday, the 16th. In a statement to the police, the drivers said they were instructed to cover their vehicle license plates to travel in exclusive lanes, according to the police.
As there was no incident, the vehicles have already been returned. Investigators requested footage from the hotel’s security camera to be analyzed.
The report contacted Tickets for Fun (T4F), producer of the singer’s shows in Brazil, but had no response at the time of publication. The space remains open.
Taylor Swift postponed until next Monday, the 20th, the show she would perform on Saturday, the 18th, in Rio de Janeiro. The reason, according to the artist, was the “extreme temperatures” in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, where the thermal sensation in recent days reaches close to 60º C.
The day before, Ana Clara Benevides, 23 years old, died after falling ill at the Nilton Santos Stadium, Engenhão. Several fans reported feeling ill because of the crowds and heat on Friday, during the tour’s debut in Brazil. The singer will also perform in São Paulo on November 25th and 26th.
