Fans of actresses Gal Gadot and Ana de Armas were agitated by the alleged feud between the two actresses fueled by the Israeli attacks on Palestine. The protagonist of the films in the ‘Wonder Woman’ franchise is Israeli and a former soldier in the army of her home country. She was recently unfollowed on Instagram by her Cuban colleague.
Playing Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) in ‘Blonde’ (2022), Armas stopped following Gadot after the Israeli actress promoted film screenings, in New York and Los Angeles, of a 47-minute video, produced by her and her partner. filmmaker husband, Guy Nattiv, with scenes from the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7th.
Over the past few weeks Gadot has also been actively using her Instagram account to defend Israeli attacks on Palestine.
In addition to Armas, Gadot is also no longer followed by actor Rami Malek, star of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ (2018).
“Beautiful, brave and human,” wrote one person on Twitter celebrating Armas’ decision to unfollow her colleague. “Another reason to celebrate Ana”, said another. “Barbarism or civilization? I’m with Ana”, shared someone else. Some, however, came to Gadot’s defense: “She’s just defending her country.”
It’s worth remembering that Armas was recently tipped to replace Gadot as Wonder Woman’s interpreter in theaters. Last April, when asked about the topic, she celebrated her colleague’s work.
She said in an interview with US magazine Wired: “Well, I think Gal Gadot is doing a great job, so, you know, I think she should continue [como a Mulher-Maravilha]”.
