This Thursday (3), model and reporter Athenna Crosby spoke about Matthew Perry’s early departure. She was seen at a restaurant with the actor in Bel-Air just hours before he was found dead. For Fox News, Athenna recalled details of the conversation and denied that Matthew had relapsed with drugs.
The “Friends” star was a drug addict and has spoken openly about his struggles with alcohol and opioids over the years. According to the model, however, the friend was 100% sober. “He was 100% sober when he passed away”confirmed. “I can’t know exactly what he was thinking or feeling. I can only share my experience. And, of course, he was himself and may have said, done, or thought things on the day he passed away that I may never have known.”he added.
According to TMZ, Matthew Perry was last seen having lunch with Athenna about 24 hours before he was found dead. He was at the Hotel Bel-Air, wearing a black shirt, while talking to the girl. Sources told the portal that the actor was so involved in the chat that he even forgot to eat or drink. The photos were taken on October 27th, around 2:30 pm. Click here to see the images.
Athenna reported, in the interview, that Perry showed no signs of being drunk during the meeting. She lamented rumors that the actor had a “relapse” before his death. “In the interaction I had with him, he was extremely positive and sober. He acted normally, spoke very well, he didn’t give me the impression that he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol of any kind”, he said. “So I think people are speculating that it was a relapse situation, I just want to defend him and say that it wasn’t.”he stated.
The reporter said that the lunch went well, but that now she asks herself daily whether she should have noticed “something different” in Matthew. “Now I’m remembering all the details, just because the situation has been so tragic. I keep thinking: ‘Was there something I should have noticed or something that caught my attention?’. And honestly, no, it didn’t. He was so normal. He ordered a cheeseburger and drank a Coke Zero. It was just a normal day like any other day.”he concluded.
On social media, Athenna Crosby had already spoken out about her relationship with the artist and the photos that had an impact. “I’m so devastated by his death, but I felt it was in bad taste to talk about it publicly as the attention shouldn’t be on me, but on him and his legacy. He was an extremely private person and I always respected that in our friendship.”he explained. “But we were actually friends and I was one of the last people to talk to him and see him before he died,” continued.
Then, she made a request to the actor’s fans: “I want to emphasize that Matthew was in a very good mood and spoke to me enthusiastically about the things that had happened in his life. He was so happy and vibrant.”. “Please do not talk about any speculation surrounding his death. That man was back and he truly deserved more time on this Earth. Our entertainment industry has truly lost a legend,” finished.
The reporter also told Entertainment Tonight that they were talking about the artist’s future work, including a possible biopic starring Zac Efron. “He had already worked with Zac Efron on a film and said he wanted Zac to play him as a younger version [de si mesmo] and that I would soon ask him to do so.”Crosby revealed to the portal.
“He was eager to share more about his story and his recovery from addiction, and really champion this cause to help more people, so he was so optimistic and happy about everything he wanted to do.”, he lamented. The model also said that Perry was very “enthusiastic” with the project and “absolutely looking forward to life”.
Test rules out fentanyl or methamphetamine overdose
Matthew Perry’s death was not caused by a fentanyl or methamphetamine overdose. According to TMZ, investigators carried out a test “less in-depth”, which revealed that he did not have the drugs in his system. Toxicological tests, however, will still indicate whether there was any other illicit drug in the actor’s blood, or whether the levels of any prescribed medication were at harmful doses. Results may take 4 to 6 months.
The initial suspicion is that he drowned in the hot tub at his home in Los Angeles. “In cases where the cause of death cannot be determined at the time of the necropsy, a subsequent certificate will be issued when the studies are complete”explained the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The actor was alone when he died. The eternal Chandler Bing would have played a game of Pickball at the beginning of Saturday (28), before sending his assistant to a “task”. When the assistant returned, however, the star was already unconscious. It was the employee who called 911, the United States emergency service. At first, the police found no signs of crime.
There were prescription medications, including antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications, in Matthew Perry’s home, but no illicit substances were found. A prescription drug for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), usually used in people with emphysema or chronic bronchitis, has also been identified. The residence still had nicotine patches and gum, commonly used by people trying to quit smoking.
