India is in shock after the death of a local TV star at the age of 35. The commotion over what happened is even greater because she died in the eighth month of pregnancy. The international press reported that the baby was saved by doctors, but that the artist did not survive.
The British newspaper Daily Mail reports that Dr. Priya was known in India for pursuing her careers as an actress and doctor at the same time.
Dr. Priya was on a routine check-up at a hospital when she suffered a heart attack.
Doctors were unable to save the artist, but her baby is currently admitted to an intensive care unit.
Priya was famous in India for her work in the local soap ‘Karuthamuthu’. She also worked as a doctor at a hospital in the city of Thiruvananthapuram.
Over the past few months, since the beginning of her pregnancy, she had interrupted her two professional roles to focus on her pregnancy and be close to her family.
“Very sad, too young!” lamented one person on the internet in reaction to the actress’ death. “Tragic,” shared another.
“Rest in peace! I wish the best for the baby and the family,” wrote a third. “I’m shocked,” someone else posted.
