A 36-year-old man suffered three fractures to his penis while having sexual intercourse. The episode took place in Tanzania and was considered unusual by doctors who treated the wounds.
According to information from the Journal of Surgery Case Reports, the man reported that he was lying in bed and his partner was on top of him. During the movement in the sexual act, he tried to reinsert the penis into the woman’s vagina and, at this moment, he heard a popping noise. This position, according to doctors, can be dangerous and cause damage to the penis if done without caution.
Then the man lost his erection. He also noticed that the penis had begun to swell and that there was blood oozing from the urethra. Five hours later, he went to the hospital, where it was identified that the impact with the perineum caused the organ to break.
According to the scientific journal, there were fractures in both the corpora cavernosa of the penis and also in the corpus spongiosum – the part that protects the urethra. Penile fracture happens when the organ is forced to bend excessively while erect, which can happen during sex or masturbation. If not treated correctly (some of them require surgery), it can lead to permanent scarring or even erectile dysfunction. (With information from GQ Globo)
