Christmas event celebrates Italian culture in the Lageado Alto neighborhood, in Guabiruba.
This Sunday (19), starting at 2pm, the Giornata al Museu will take place, an action that since 2021 has brought together cultural presentations in a tourist region to open the municipality’s Christmas events and promote the tradition and history of Italian immigration in Guabiruba.
In the early afternoon, at 2pm, the Memorial Ítalo-Guabirubense Sacristão Francesco Celva will be open for visits. There, the public will be able to see a collection made up of items from the community itself, recognizing its history and culture, as well as its customs in the past.
Then, at 3pm, mass takes place in the Nossa Senhora da Imaculada Conceição chapel, with the participation of the Cristo Rei Choir. Following this, at 5pm, performances by the Italian Choir and Tutti Buona Gente Folkloristic Group highlight the moment of celebrating the Italian culture on the chapel stairs.
After the presentations, the magic of Christmas is completed with the arrival of Santa Claus and Befana, a Christmas character from Italian folklore. She is a witchy lady, a character from Italian Christmas folklore, who gives sweets to well-behaved children and coal to children who did not obey during the year.
To end the day, at 6pm, Bia Barros and Banda will be present at the event and lift the spirits with a special Christmas show. This event opens the program for a series of Guabiruba Magical Christmas weekends, which runs until December.
“In this way we want to support the entire Christmas program in Guabiruba” says Jenifer Schlindwein, Superintendent of the Cultural Foundation. “We invite everyone to participate and enjoy the Giornata al Museu, an event that promotes Italian Christmas culture, celebrates enchanting and magical moments, with many cultural attractions.” he states.
