New cases of Covid-19 are increasing in Italy (+26%), totaling 34,314 new infections.

Bed occupancy in hospitals is slightly increased, as is the Transmissibility Index (Rt), which varies from 0.93 to 0.89, still remaining below the epidemic threshold of 1.

The incidence rose to 58 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 46 last week, according to weekly monitoring of the disease in Italy.

Bed occupancy in the medical area remains limited, but growing, reaching 6.7% (4,167 hospitalized patients), an increase compared to the previous week (5.9%).

The occupancy of beds in intensive care units, at 1.4% (122 hospitalized), shows a slight increase compared to the previous week, when it was 1.2%.

“The numbers, although substantially stable in the most significant indices, that is, the impact on hospital structures, determine the need for greater commitment on the part of all Regions”, stated the director general of Health Prevention at the Ministry of Health, Francesco Boo.

“We need to improve both in terms of communication and the organization of vaccination in defense of the most vulnerable,” he added, who about 10 days ago asked the Regions to speed up vaccination against Covid. .
