Bahia recorded a 131.2% increase in active cases of Covid-19, between October 22nd and the 28th of the same month. During this period alone, 645 active cases of the disease were confirmed. The data are from Epidemiological Week 43/2023, made available in an epidemiological alert to which the Bahia Notícias report obtained access.
The number represents an increase compared to the epidemiological week of the previous period, when 279 cases were recorded.

The state also had an average of 25 cases per day, between the period from July 30th to September 2nd. Between September 24th and October 28th, an average of 45 cases of the disease per day were confirmed. The average variation in new cases over the last fifteen days was 335.8% on the 27th.
Still in the month of October, five deaths were reported due to Covid-19 and another 10 that occurred in previous periods were also reported. In total, Bahia had 1,808,176 active cases and 31,738 deaths from Covid-19, between 2020 and October 27, 2023.
The municipalities with the most reported cases were Salvador (340,117 cases), Feira de Santana (85,445); Vitória da Conquista (52,481), Itabuna (45,701), Camaçari (35,796), Lauro de Freitas (34,065), Juazeiro (29,771), Teixeira de Freitas (28,081), Ilhéus (27,353) and Barreiras (27,013).
The list of cities with the most deaths includes Salvador (13224), Vitória da Conquista (1610); Feira de Santana (1610); Ilhéus (1316); Itabuna (1130); Barriers (912); Lauro de Freitas (870); Jequié (710); Juazeiro (705) and Teixeira de Freitas (527).
