In a decree published in the Official Gazette of the State of Minas Gerais this Friday (23), Governor Romeu Zema (Novo) revoked the emergency situation because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The measure has been in effect since March 2020, when the first cases of the new coronavirus began to emerge.

The emergency situation allows the state the right to requisition goods and services, with subsequent payment. In addition, it dispensed with the opening of bidding processes for the acquisition of goods, services and health supplies intended for the fight against Covid-19.

The revocation of the emergency situation takes place amid the improvement of epidemiological indicators, from the advance of vaccination against Covid-19, and the end of restrictive measures to combat the disease.

In every pandemic, Minas Gerais records 3,879,059 infected and 63,758 deaths from Covid-19. according to data updated this Thursday (22) by the State Department of Health (SES-MG).
