Team justifies music choice

With many claiming that Lovato was “insensitive” and questioning whether the song choice was inappropriate given the nature of the event, the pop star’s team spoke out.

In a note to Entertainment Weekly, a representative for Demi explained the reason behind the decision and highlighted that Demi’s song selection had a purpose.

“She talked about the mind-heart connection. It was a delicate moment with the intention of defending the women present – the reason Demi was at the event,” it started. “She opened with a beautiful introduction about why she chose the song and addressed the audience, talking about the connection between the mind and the heart. It was actually a beautiful moment,” concluded.
