Sisters Carmen Villavicencio, 19, and Fatima, 16, arrived in Rio a few hours before this Sunday’s performance at the Nilton Santos Stadium – Engenhão. They used a fan to ward off the heat — which was already lower than what the city’s thermometers had indicated on the previous two days.

“It was difficult to speak Portuguese [nos primeiros momentos]. We also don’t understand the currency exchange rate and it’s getting hot”, said Fatima.

The young women traveled to Rio de Janeiro with their parents and intend to visit the city’s most famous tourist attractions before returning to their home country. “My mother wants to see Christ the Redeemer”, explained Carmen.
