During his participation in the podcast “Quem Pode, Pod”, Soares reflected on the perception that his mother has with the fact that he has become a famous person, presenter of a daily program in the mornings of Globo, and highlighted that Ivanete is his fan in “a place that has nothing to do with television”.
According to the communicator, his mother sees the universe of celebrities in a “satirical” way and highlighted that she experienced both the period of enslavement and the digital age, marked by the expansion of social networks such as Facebook.
“My mother, I think she is my fan in a place that has nothing to do with television.
My mother is special not because she is my mother, but because she is the only person I know who lived through enslavement and Facebook in the same life. We are talking about a woman who was sold and bought in the Recôncavo Baiano in the 1960s. Imagine that my mother was sold. And she lived this enslavement. She has one of her ears cropped because her owners ripped her ear. She has a lot of traces of a life that we think it is [passado]… And at the same time she’s rocking Facebook and Instagram.”
Manoel Soares stressed that legal enslavement in Brazil ended 130 years ago, a period that he claims is “a very short time”.
Soares also reported situations of violence experienced by Ivanete when she was working as a maid.
