Last week, the Minas Gerais Court of Justice ordered the suspension of the judicial recovery of the company 123milhas. The decision, handed down by judge Claudia Helena Batista, from the 1st Business Court of Belo Horizonte, implies the interruption of the recovery process until the new judicial administrators are defined and the real conditions of the companies LH – Lance Hotéis and MaxMilhas, included in the recovery in October 2023, be evaluated.
This is the second time that 123milhas’ judicial recovery has been suspended; Previously, in September last year, the Minas Gerais Court had already taken a similar measure.
The case began in August, when 123milhas chose to suspend issuing tickets and packages on the Promo line, with flexible dates, scheduled for boarding between September and December last year. This decision led the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) to question the online travel agency about the reasons for the cancellation, while the São Paulo Public Ministry began an investigation into the company.
In August, the Court had granted 123milhas’ request for judicial recovery.
123Milhas is a Brazilian company that operates in the travel sector, especially in the airline ticket segment. The company operates as an online travel agency, offering search and reservation services for airline tickets, travel packages, accommodation and other travel-related services.
123Milhas’ difference – according to the company – is its proposal to allow customers to purchase airline tickets at discounted prices, using airline miles accumulated by other people. The company acquires miles from loyalty programs from customers who wish to sell their points, and then uses these miles to issue tickets at more competitive prices.
The tourism sector in Brazil continues to grow, reaching accumulated revenue of more than R$121 billion between January and August this year. This value represents an increase of approximately R$12 billion compared to the same period in 2022. The upward trend in national tourism is evident, indicating a significant increase in tourist activities throughout these months.
