The official end of Toyota’s crucial service has just been confirmed, which is a real bombshell for thousands of Brazilian consumers, but a replacement is called in a hurry and promises to exceed everyone’s expectations.

Therefore, according to the WebMotors portal, the Toyota Yaris, a model that is sold as a sedan and hatchback, will leave the Brazilian market for a while to be resurrected in a completely different form, as an SUV. The model would even have dates to return at the end of 2024.

Therefore, the Yaris should be discontinued by the beginning of 2024 in hatch and sedan versions. But it will return in the last quarter of the same year, probably in November, as a compact SUV. The name should be Yaris Cross, but the information has not yet been confirmed by Toyota.

The new version of the sports utility vehicle will be produced at the brand’s factory in Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo, and will have a hybrid version, which will not be exactly the same system used by Corolla and Corolla Cross. In April, the brand announced the investment of R$1.7 billion in its factories in Brazil to receive this new model.

However, the model will continue to be made in Brazil for other markets, such as Argentina, as is currently the case with the Etios, a car that is no longer sold here, but continues to be produced for other countries.

The national SUV will have part of its development carried out locally, with a focus on the region, and will have a partnership with Daihatsu, a brand that belongs to Toyota and is responsible for low-cost production vehicles for emerging markets, such as Indonesia and Brazil.

What will the aesthetics of the new version be like?

The compact sports utility vehicle is expected to be 4.31 m long, with a wheelbase of 2.62 m, 1.77 m wide and 1.62 m high. The European model, just as a means of comparison, is smaller: 4.18 m long, 2.56 m wheelbase, 1.76 m wide and 1.59 m high.
