Nissan, the renowned Japanese vehicle manufacturer, marked its 23rd anniversary of operations in Brazil with a major announcement that promises to shake up the country’s and South America’s automobile market. In an event that highlighted both the celebration and the future, the company revealed a robust plan to expand its activities in the Resende Industrial Complex, in Rio de Janeiro. The investment plan for 2023-2025 was expanded, reaching the impressive figure of R$2.8 billion.
This financial contribution will be allocated to the production of two new models of sports utility vehicles (SUVs), with the already known Nissan Kicks receiving a turbocharged version. The big news is the new turbo engine that will be assembled at the Brazilian unit, promising better performance for the model that has already won over fans in the country.

In addition to the Kicks turbo, Nissan plans to introduce a second SUV, which should only be introduced to the market in 2026. This new vehicle is expected to be exported to up to 20 countries, but specific details about the model are still kept confidential.
Nissan has not yet provided information about the possibility of electrification in its new SUVs. Currently, the brand produces a 1.6 aspirated engine with 113 hp and 15.3 kgfm. However, rumors are circulating that the Kicks turbo could receive the engine from the Kardian SUV, with 125 hp and 22.4 kgfm of torque, offering better performance than the current 1.6 engine.
