According to the South Korean manufacturer, the new factory has a built area of 17,721 m² and required an investment of R$ 500 million to get off the paper. So, the Production capacity is 70 thousand engines per year, which will be manufactured by 256 new employees. Before the inauguration, the thrusters were imported from South Korea.
Altogether, Hyundai now has 13 engine plants worldwide. Nonetheless, the Brazilian complex will be the first to introduce the so-called AMR – an Autonomous Mobile Robot that optimizes the transport of parts within manufacturing processes.
According to the brand, this feature reduces the space needed for parts on the production line by half and also provides better flexibility for new products, as the supply automatically adapts to programmed needs.
This technology will be used to manufacture the range of engines that equips the HB20 it’s the HB20S. Both models can be equipped with 1.0 aspirated engine of 80 hp and 10.2 kgfm of torque or with a 120 hp 1.0-litre turbo engine and 17.5 kgfm torque. The latter is also the engine of most versions of the Hyundai Creta.

please note that The official inauguration of the new Hyundai engine factory takes place exactly ten years after the date of departure of the first Hyundai HB20 produced in Piracicaba (SP), in 2012. Since then, the South Korean manufacturer has manufactured more than 1.7 million vehicles in Brazil.
