Next Saturday (24), at 4 pm, Livraria LDM – located at Shopping Bela Vista – launches the book “Necropolitics and Black Children: Essays in the Pandemic”. The event will be attended by the organizers of the work – Mother Ellen de Souza Lima and Babalorixá Sidnei Nogueira – and will promote an afternoon of chat and debate on the trivialization of the death of black children in Salvador.
Admission is free and those interested will also have the opportunity to participate in the autograph session. The book brings together a set of reflections that, over the course of a year, led researchers, mostly black, to produce a debate with social and academic commitment.
The work has 15 essays, organized into three axes: Policies and Absences; Black mothers: a tribute; Education and black children. In partnership with other research groups that have the childhoods of black children at the center of the debate, the book expresses the quest to keep the memory of children alive, symbolized by Breno Loeser’s cover art.
Those who cannot attend the event can follow the chat through the bookstore’s instagram (@livrarialdm) and request their autographed book through whatsapp number 71 98622-4751.
