O Paramount+ just finished recording Marcelo, Quince, Hammeroriginal series of premium service from streaming based on the children’s classic by Ruth Rocha. This is the first time that the writer authorizes her characters to be portrayed in the audiovisual.

In addition to releasing the rights for adaptation, Ruth makes a cameo in the production. “I’m very happy! Seeing my work portrayed in an audiovisual series is a concrete thing, being able to follow my characters in action… I’m finding it very fun”, comments the author, who turned 91 in 2022.

Marcelo, Quince, Hammer tells the adventures of a different boy who has his own way of talking, thinking and dressing. His peculiar style and creativity in inventing words help him win over the three best friends in the Caramelo neighborhood: Catapimba, the fastest football player; Teresinha, a very organized girl; and Gabriela, who is super smart and has the most powerful kick in the neighborhood. Together, they will transform the world with every episode.

Launched in 1976, the book has more than 55 editions, a critical and public success and, above all, a classic used in schools throughout Brazil. With more than 180 books published in her 50-year career, Ruth Rocha has sold more than 40 million books in Brazil and abroad, and has had her work translated into 25 languages.

Written by Alice Gomes and Thamires S. Gomesthe series Marcelo, Quince, Hammer It has a child cast led by Enzo Rosetti, Davi Martins, Lara Capuzzo and Rihanna Barbosa. Alongside them, actors such as Antoniela Canto, Billy Saga, Karin Hils, Marcia Manfredini, Oscar Filho, Priscila Sol, Theo Werneck give life to the characters of Ruth Rocha.

Marcelo, Quince, Hammer is produced by VIS, the studio division of paramountin partnership with the Coyote. The general direction is by Eduardo Vaisman, known for children’s content, and the episodes are directed by Maria Farkas and Tom Hamburger.
