The 9th edition of the Bibi Ferreira Award made history, consecrating transvestite stars for the first time in its history. The announcement of the winners of all categories of the award took place on the night of this Wednesday (21), at Teatro Santander, in São Paulo.

Marina Mathey competed in two categories for her work in the musical “Brenda Lee and the Palace of the Princesses” and took the trophy for Best Supporting Actress in Musicals.

The actress got emotional on stage during her speech. “Thanks to my sisters for doing this project by my side. This award is ours. Thank you to all my transcestrals, who paved the way to be here today being the first transvestite to win an award at Bibi Ferreira”, stated Marina.

“And being the first is a trophy, but it’s also a denunciation and a call to reflection. We don’t want to continue being the first anymore, we want many. Many and more. And that’s what we’re doing this show”, continued the actress.

Marina also competed in the Revelation in Musicals category, which was won by Verónica Valentino.

“How crazy! But that’s it! For all ours! We are… by the way! I prophesy that we were those bodies that were dead. Today we are alive, we are entering these spaces”, affirmed Verónica.

“And it’s for all my trancestrals, for Brenda Lee, thank you nucleus, thank you Zé, thank you Fernanda, thank you my sisters for being with me, this award is ours.”

“And I want to end with a sentence that was immortalized in the mouth of Bibi Ferreira, when she said: ‘they think that the tide goes out and never comes back. Until now they commanded my destiny and I went. I was retreating, gathering furies. Today I am wave loose! And as strong as they imagine weak. When they see the current reversed, I want to know how they resist surprise. I want to see how they react to the undertow'”.

Like Marina, Verónica was cheered by the audience who attended the theater.
