A few weeks ago, Nintendo closed Yuzu and Citra, two emulators that allowed playing Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS titles, respectively. Now, the Japanese giant has managed to remove 8,535 Yuzu repositories on GitHub – which contained original emulator code – all at once and with a single DMCA takedown notice.

As reported by eurogamer.net, Nintendo filed this DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notice with GitHub earlier this week.

In it, the owner of Mario and Zelda specifically targeted a series of repositories that she claimed “provide access to the Yuzu emulator or code based on the yuzu emulator [que] illegally circumvents Nintendo’s technological protection measures and makes illegal copies of Nintendo Switch games.”

However, GitHub itself responded, stating that it “processed the takedown notice across its entire network of 8,535 repositories, including the parent repository.”

Just under a month ago, Yuzu producers Tropic Haze agreed to pay the company $2.4 million in damages and cease all operations in response to Nintendo’s recent lawsuit.
