Amid great questions and suggestions about Brazil’s next opponent, Jon Jones, the heavyweight champion (up to 120.2 kg.) ended any mystery regarding his return to the Octagon. In a statement made on his social networks, the North American stated that he will face Stipe Miocic when to put on the gloves again and avoided any chances of changing his mind.

“I’m in the middle of a pretty clear decision: stick to the exact, original plans and fight the man with all the accolades or completely disregard all the Stipe training I’ve done and fight another athlete with hype who might not even be around in three years. I’m not changing my plans for anyone. Stipe is the best heavyweight of all time and he’s working his ass off. I’m going to give this man what he wants and I’m going to take another head. Whatever comes next will come next,” Jones said.

Despite having recently declared that a possible confrontation against Alex Poatan would be one of the biggest fights in the organization’s history, Jones demonstrated his willingness to follow through with what he previously promised. Current linear heavyweight champion, ‘Bones’ is in the sights of Tom Aspinallwho expects to hold a duel to unify the belts in the future.

At 41 years old, Stipe Miocic declared that he will not change his plans and that he remains determined to carry out a confrontation against Jones. The fight was supposed to take place in UFC 295, in November 2023, but the North American ended up injuring his shoulder during preparation and is still inactive today. The expectation is that the title fight will take place later this year.
