The Brazilian women’s 3×3 Basketball team was defeated in the semi-final of the Pre-Olympic of the sport, this Sunday (5), in Japan, and will not compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In a tight clash with Australia, the Brazilian team was defeated 18-16.
The duel was marked by balance. Brazil started ahead, but the Australians managed to turn things around. The game was tied at 12-12, but the Brazilians did not go further ahead on the scoreboard from that moment on.

The Brazilian team that competed in the Pre-Olympic included Clarissa dos Santos, Luana Souza, Thayná Silva and Vitória Marcelino. After eliminating Brazil, Australia beat Canada 19-16 and secured a place at the Paris Olympics.

The last chance for Brazil to have a basketball team at the Olympics is in the conventional men’s sport. The Brazilians will compete in the Pre-Olympics, at the beginning of July, in Latvia. The other teams (women’s conventional and women’s and men’s 3×3) are out of the Paris Games.
