Now, the athlete is part of the company’s top-15 featherweight division (66 kg) and, naturally, wants to go further.
In a meeting with journalists attended by the Ag. Fight, held last Thursday (2), in Rio de Janeiro, Diego, with just one year in the UFC and four appearances in the cage, is already making plans to fight for the featherweight belt. The athlete – 14th in the category ranking – shows that he is aware that he needs to continue impressing to quickly reach the top and, precisely for this reason, he exudes confidence, as he stipulates that he is not far from fighting for her title.
“It was a really crazy year in my life. It will still be a year since I arrived in the UFC and being able to experience everything I’m experiencing now is something incredible. I had my first fight against the number ten in the world and fighting Sodiq now and winning my place in the rankings, I think this speaks of the quality I have as an athlete. I think I’ve done things well, I always deserve to fight with the guys who are above me, because I’ve demonstrated that fight after fight. The next step is to get a top-10 guy and keep climbing. With two or three fights at most I’m fighting for the belt“, declared the fighter.
