Dione Barbosa made her debut in the world’s most famous octagon in style, this Saturday (4), at UFC Rio. Facing the previously undefeated Ernesta Kareckaite, the Brazilian mixed her takedown game with standing elbows to win a unanimous decision between judges. The fight, however, was extremely balanced and marked the end of the Lithuanian athlete’s unbeaten run.

Cris Cyborg’s training partner, Dione was moved by the affection of the audience present at the ‘Farmasi Arena’. Despite the close fight, the grappling specialist highlighted that she did enough to have her arm raised against Ernesta. Now, the Pernambuco native has seven wins and two losses as an MMA professional.

Good night Brazil! I think I did enough to bring victory. I imposed my game, my rhythm. I definitely think I did enough to achieve this victory. Kings MMA, hey! It’s a Muay Thai academy, I went there to improve my striking. I’m a black belt in judo and jiu-jitsu, but I know how to put my hand too. Dione Barbosa, after victory at UFC Rio
