River – Max Verstappen took pole position for the 6th time in a row in the season and will start at the front in the Miami GP. The three-time Formula 1 world champion posted a time of 1m27s241 and was 0s141 ahead of Charles Leclerc, from Ferrari. Carlos Sainz, also from Ferrari, and Sergio Perez, the Dutchman’s teammate at Red Bull, complete the second row of the grid.

Verstappen is the only driver to win pole positions in the season 2024. It was the 38th pole in the career of the three-time champion, who is the fifth driver in history to have started on the front row of the grid the most times. Over the weekend in Miami, the Dutchman led free practice, was on pole and won the sprint race, as well as taking pole in the main race.

Mercedes reacted after disappointing in the sprint race and managed to place both drivers in the top ten — George Russell was seventh and Lewis Hamilton was eighth. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, from McLaren, Nico Hulkenberg, from Haas, and Yuki Tsunoda, from Racing Bulls, completed the top 10. Daniel Ricciardo, who was fourth in the sprint, ranked in 18th place.
