This Saturday, Israel ordered Palestinians in more areas of the city of Rafah, in southern Gaza, to leave and head to the so-called expanded humanitarian area in Al-Mawasi. This is yet another sign that the military is moving forward with its plans for a ground attack on Rafah.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said at least 37 Palestinians were killed in overnight airstrikes across the enclave, including in Rafah. Of the 37, 24 were in the central areas of Gaza.

“They threw leaflets in Rafah and said: from Rafah to al-Zawayda is safe, people should go there. They went and what happened? Dismembered bodies? There is no safe place in Gaza,” said Khitam Al-Khatib, who told Reuters he had lost at least ten relatives in an airstrike on a family home on Saturday.

Al-Zawayda is a small town in the center of the Gaza Strip that is crowded with thousands of displaced people.

Israeli military reported that aircraft hit dozens of targets across the Gaza Strip over the past day. They also said that ground troops had eliminated fighters in Zeitoun in recent hours.

According to doctors, an Israeli air strike killed at least seven people in a house in the city of Beit Lahiya, in the north of the Gaza Strip, all from the same family.

In Rafah, residents told Reuters that new evacuation orders from the Israeli military covered areas in the city center and left little doubt that Israel planned to expand its ground offensive there.
