Have you ever heard that expression “less is more”? So, this can also apply to the fantastic world of cinema when actors, even with appearances that last just a few minutes of screen time, manage to steal the show in a short period of time. With this in mind, we selected 10 actors who scored films, despite small appearances!

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore had a phone and a dream when he starred in one of cinema’s most iconic horror scenes in the first film Panic, in 1996. At the time, Barrymore was already a famous name in Hollywood, which made many people believe that she would actually be in a large part of the film (something that was also boosted by the film’s promotion). However, that’s not what happened.

The actress only appears in the opening sequence of the first Panic like the character Casey Beckerwhere she is attacked by Ghostface in your own home. Even with little screen time, as Casey dies during the attack, Barrymore gave such an iconic performance that it is impossible to forget her when it comes to horror in cinema.

Frances McDormand

With less than half an hour of screen time, the actress Frances McDormand did such a great job in Fargo (1996) that, despite having a “small” participation, she took home her first Oscar for Best Actress.

In the plot of FargoMcDormand plays Margea pregnant police officer Minnesota who ends up getting involved in an attempted kidnapping. With the precise direction of Coen Brothersthe actress delivers a spectacular job playing the young officer, marking the film with a short and impressive performance.

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey only needed a few moments of screen time to make history as Mark Hanna in the wolf of Wall Street (2013), film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Martin Scorsese.

With three scenes in total, McConaughey turned his character into one of the most memorable in the film due to the way he plays him, and even became a meme with that iconic sequence in which he beats his chest while singing with his lips closed.

Anne Hathaway

Another artist who won an Oscar despite her limited screen time was Anne Hathaway when she played Fantine in the musical The miserable (2012). The actress was moved (a lot) when playing the young dreamer who, due to life’s circumstances, ends up facing difficult situations that change her forever – and Hathaway does this with very little screen time.

The highlight of her performance is the moment she sings I Dreamed a Dreamin which the culmination of Fantine’s tragic journey is transmitted to the public with excellent work by Anne, who manages to present the character’s suffering to the public.

John Turturro

The Big Lebowski (1998), another iconic production by the Coen Brothers, is full of iconic moments, and one of them stars the actor John Turturro. With little screen time, Turturro lives Jesus Quintanaa character who appears in the hilarious bowling scene in the film.

In the sequence, Turturro won over the audience by giving a very caricatured interpretation, exaggerating the character’s movements and gestures to match his actions with the figure’s somewhat arrogant personality. The result is a comical and unforgettable performance that is adored by fans of the film to this day.

John Candy

They forgot me (1990) is one of the most beloved Christmas films of all time, and the performance of John Candy It made production even more fun.

In the film, Candy plays the musician Gus Polinski, which in very few scenes managed to make viewers smile. In a clumsy and charismatic way, the character is responsible for offering a ride to Kate McCallister (Catherine O’Hara), the mother of Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), and he even gives important advice at the end of the film, marking the production with a simple but very special performance.

Matt Damon

O MCU is full of special appearances that, even with little screen time, leave the audience in awe. But there is one of them that, in addition to taking everyone by surprise, made a lot of people laugh at the cinema: Matt Damon in Thor: Ragnarok (2017).

Bill Murray

Between chaos and hilarious dialogue, the group soon realizes that Murray is just pretending to be a zombie, which triggers comic sequences marked as some of the best moments of Zombieland thanks to the actor’s charisma.

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise He has also left his mark with a brief – and iconic – appearance in films. The big moment is in tropical Thunder (2008), a parody of war films in which he plays an explosive producer named Les Grossman.

Wearing glasses and a bald wig, Cruise steals the show in the comedy by playing the hot-headed producer, without skimping on the screams and caricatured performance.

Christopher Walken

Christopher Walken has a CV that would make anyone jealous, and even in smaller roles the actor knows very well how to use time to his advantage to deliver excellent work, as in pulp Fiction (1994).

In the long Quentin TarantinoWalken gives a memorable performance as he lives the Captain Koons. The scene is short, but the actor’s monologue when handing a gold watch to the younger version of the character Bruce Willis It is so impressive that it is impossible to forget it.
