Film ‘O Auto da Compadecida 2’ releases its first trailer; watch

Auto da Compadecida will get a sequel 24 years after its original release. The new feature film got its first trailer this Thursday (2) telling details of the plot involving classic characters from Brazilian fiction.

In the story, João Grilo (Matheus Nachtergaele) and Chicó (Selton Mello) return to the city of Taperoá to live new surreal adventures and at the same time experience new situations that must put the duo’s friendship to the test.

Auto da Compadecida 2 also features Virginia Cavendish, who returns as Rosinha, and Enrique Diaz as Joaquim Brejeiro. There are also new faces that promise to shake up the story, including characters played by Taís Araújo, Humberto Martins, Luis Miranda, Eduardo Sterblitch and Fabiula Nascimento.

The script is by Guel Arraes and João Falcão, with collaboration from Adriana Falcão and Jorge Furtado. Arraes also directs the feature film alongside Flavia Lacerda.

The release date of the sequel to ‘O Auto da Compadecida 2’ is scheduled for December 25, 2024 in theaters.
