The veteran actor surprises by choosing the fourth film in one of his most popular franchises as the best action film.

Sylvester Stallone has participated in several legendary films throughout his long career and is also a reference in the history of action cinema. Afterwards, everyone will have their favorite work by the actor, who recently revealed to The Hollywood Reporter what he himself considers to be the best action film he has ever made.

The most curious thing of all is that Stallone opted for a sequel instead of other emblematic titles in his career. In fact, it was a film that served to recover a character that seemed to have been left behind for 20 years and would later be recovered again:

One film I’m really proud of – it’s the best action film I’ve ever made because it’s the most truthful – is Rambo 4, which is about Burma, where there has been a civil war for 67 years. But I was criticized because the film is very violent. And it’s violent. It’s horrible. These are children being burned alive. That’s what makes civil war worse than anything: it’s your neighbor suddenly killing you. I was very happy with that film and I never thought it would ever make it to the cinema. I thought, ‘They’ll never show this’

Released in 2008, Rambo 4 arrived shortly after Stallone relaunched the other great character of his career with Rocky Balboa (2006), the sixth film in the franchise about the iconic boxer which was very well received, but critics were less enthusiastic in the case of the fourth adventure. of this Vietnam War veteran.

The public showed greater interest in Rambo 4, which led to it reaching gross sales of 113 million dollars. Not that it was a success at the box office – remember it cost 47.5 million – but it showed that Sylvester Stallone could still offer an edgy take on the character. Unfortunately, the same did not happen in the case of Rambo: Until the End (2019) and the actor has already ruled out making a sixth film.

A civil war has been going on for almost 60 years on the border with Burma, involving the Burmese and the Karen tribe. John Rambo (Stallone) lives in northern Thailand, where he pilots a boat on the Salween River. Tired of fighting, Rambo leads a simple and solitary life, just following the flow of rebels and refugees. Until Sarah Miller (Julie Benz) and Michael Burnett (Paul Schulze) appear, two missionaries who want to bring food and medicine to people affected by the war. Initially reluctant, Rambo accepts the proposal to take them across the river. But 10 days later, Pastor Artur Marsh (Ken Howard) comes looking for him, saying that the missionaries have been captured and that he has collected money to hire mercenaries to rescue them. The pastor wants Rambo to take the mercenaries to where he left them, but he also decides to participate in the rescue operation.
