Snyder’s plans for the hero included a trilogy that would culminate in an epic battle against Darkseid, the intergalactic tyrant. According to Snyder, Superman would have to face Anti-Life, be destroyed, and then return to the past to have a second chance to defeat Darkseid.
This narrative promised to not only bring Superman’s trilogy to a close, but also restore his humanity lost throughout his ordeals.
Unfortunately, these plans never fully came to fruition. After the controversy surrounding Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice It is Justice League, DC chose to move in a new direction, leaving behind the narrative arc proposed by Snyder. This led to Cavill stepping away from the role of Superman and seeking a fresh take on the character.
Now, with the arrival of a new era for Superman in DC films, under the leadership of James Gunn, the hero’s future is uncertain. The new film promises a complete reboot of the universe, with a new actor, David Corenswet, taking on the Man of Steel mantle.
