Analysis carried out by the Economic Information Center of the Federation of Industries of the State of Sergipe (FIES), based on data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), revealed that, in April this year, the capital of Sergipe had inflation of 0. 78%, measured by the Broad Consumer Price Index – IPCA. With April’s result, accumulated inflation in 2024 reached 3.14%.
The objective of this index is to monitor the price variation of a set of products and services consumed by families with monetary income of 01 to 40 minimum wages, whatever the source. For this research, prices collected between March 29 and April 30, 2024 (reference) were compared with prices in force in the period from March 1 to 28, 2024 (base).
It should also be noted that the index is calculated for the city of Aracaju and fifteen other capitals and metropolitan regions in the country.
Basket of products analyzed by IPCA
In Aracaju, in the period analyzed, of the nine groups of products and services researched to measure price behavior, two showed negative price variation (deflation): Clothing (-0.50%) and Home items (-0.19%).
On the other hand, of the seven groups that showed price increases, the group of Food and drinks which recorded inflation of 1.94%. Then there were the groups of Health and personal care (+1.03%), Communication (+0.98%), Housing (+0.53%), Personal expenses (+0.38%), Transport (+0.33%) and Education (+0.10%).
Inflation of 0.84% in the basket of those who receive up to 5 salaries, in Aracaju
The IBGE also measures, in Aracaju, the price variation of the consumption basket of families with an income of 1 to 5 minimum wages, with the head of the family being a salaried employee.
For this audience, the research is carried out using the National Consumer Price Index (INPC), which recorded inflation of 0.84%, in April 2024, there was a price reduction in two of the nine groups of products and services analyzed. , are they: Clothing (-0.52%) and Home items (-0.27%). The comparison range is the same as the IPCA described above.
