CNT points out that RN roads have only 30 km classified as ‘excellent’

The road network in Rio Grande do Norte, comprising both federal and state highways, reveals a worrying disparity in its general condition. While only 30 km, all belonging to federal highways, are considered “excellent”, almost 650 kilometers are classified as bad or very poor.

This data comes from the annual survey conducted by the National Transport Confederation (CNT) in 2023, covering 1,879 km of roads in the state.

Of the total surveyed, 841 km (44.8%) were assessed as being in regular condition, when considering both federal and state highways. However, state highways stand out negatively in this context.

When analyzing only the roads under state government administration, almost 70% of the length surveyed, totaling 243 km, was classified as poor. Another 15.7% were bad, while only 14.9%, equivalent to 54 km, were considered in good condition.

As indicated by the research, there is no section of state highway in Rio Grande do Norte classified as good or excellent. In almost 80% of the sections analyzed on state highways, the geometry of the lanes was assessed as being of poor quality.

According to the CNT, this situation leads to a 71% increase in operational costs for companies and families that depend on these roads, discouraging economic activity and resulting in an increase in the cost of products and services.
