Some of these structures, responsible for containing water reservoirs for supply, irrigation or electricity generation, are at an emergency level.

This means that they present a “risk of imminent rupture, requiring measures to preserve lives”, according to a bulletin signed by representatives of the Secretariat of the Environment and Infrastructure (Sema) of Rio Grande do Sul and the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) .

According to the latest update, released on Wednesday afternoon (8/5), five dams are in this emergency situation.

Check the location and status of all monitored structures on the interactive map below:

There is only one dam classified as an alert level, “when anomalies represent a safety risk, requiring measures to maintain safety conditions”.

Finally, there are 12 other structures of this type in a state of attention.

In this case, according to the definition adopted by the Rio Grande do Sul government, “anomalies do not compromise safety in the short term, but require monitoring, control or repair over time”.

Those responsible for these structures, such as Sema and Aneel, guarantee that they are carrying out a series of actions to contain the damage and prevent the dams from breaking.
