Azul Linhas Aéreas informs that its company responsible for regional flights, Azul Conecta, has been carrying out, since the afternoon of last Monday, May 6, three daily flights between Florianópolis, in Santa Catarina, and Águas Claras, district of Viamão , located 40 km from the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.
The operation is the result of the airline’s commitment to supporting the victims of the climate tragedy that hit Rio Grande do Sul, the company describes.
The first flight of the day leaves Florianópolis at 9:00 am, landing in Águas Claras at 10:30 am. The second takes off from the capital of Santa Catarina at 2:30 pm and arrives on Rio Grande do Sul at 4:00 pm. The third leaves at 7:15 pm to land in Águas Claras at 8:45 pm.
Azul highlights that these operations are special, dedicated exclusively to transporting donations. The route is operated by Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft, with capacity for up to 1 ton of cargo each.
To date, Azul Conecta has carried out several transports (air and land) of supplies for the people of Rio Grande do Sul and, especially, to meet the immediate needs of homeless families.
In total, through the company alone, more than 120 tons of donations have already been sent, including mineral water, non-perishable food, cleaning products, mattresses and items considered essential by the Porto Alegre City Council Social Assistance, such as hygiene products staff (towels, toilet paper, toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap), bed linen and blankets.
Anyone from the Santa Catarina region who wants to collaborate can leave their contribution at Florianópolis International Airport, where daily humanitarian aid flights depart for Águas Claras and also for other municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul. The opening hours for donations at Floripa Airport are from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
