The number of people injured by the storms that hit Rio Grande do Sul rose from 374, this Wednesday, the 8th, to 754 people, this Thursday, the 9th. Furthermore, the number of homeless people practically doubled, rising from 164,583 thousand people to 327,105 thousand. The data was released by Civil Defense in the flood balance.

The information also reveals that 68,519 people are in public shelters, in need of basic items. There is also one death under investigation to determine whether it is related to the meteorological events.

Civil Defense asks people to check if their names are on the list of missing people. “If it appears, the advice is to look for the nearest Civil Police Station to verify and regularize the data, with the name removed from the list of missing persons”, he says.
