The Temporary Representation Committee for Monitoring and Monitoring the Actuarial Deficit of the Mato Grosso do Sul Social Security Regime (MSPrev) is studying the possibility of exemption from the 14% social security contribution for retirees with some comorbidity.

The group met with representatives of retirees and pensioners, this Thursday (9), in the Presidency Room of Alems (Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso do Sul). The prioritization of this group, initially, was a demand from the representatives. The state pension deficit is estimated at R$12 billion. The State Government contributes, in addition to the employer’s quota, approximately R$3 billion per year to contain the gap.

Therefore, the commission must identify the number of retirees and pensioners with comorbidities and how much this possible exemption would cost the public coffers.

After collecting this information, another meeting is planned between the parties to discuss the matter, which should take place within 30 days. At this meeting, this first proposal must be defined.

The meeting was attended by deputies Paulo Duarte (PSB), Pedrossian Neto (PSD), Gleice Jane (PT) and Roberto Hashioka (União), members of the commission, in addition to parliamentarians Pedro Kemp (PT), Mara Caseiro (PSDB) and Renato Câmara (MDB).

“People who retire due to disability, serious illness, and who have a very high cost, for example, with the purchase of medicines, and still have to contribute 14% to Social Security?”, asked the president of the commission, Paulo Duarte.

Other exemptions

During the meeting, the possibility of exemption up to the social security ceiling, currently set at R$7,786.02, was also discussed.

“That’s another big demand. And we will do this in the second stage of the study. Let’s see, by band, how much it would cost for Social Security, for the State, if the exemption band were increased”, explained deputy Paulo Duarte.

In April, the State Government sanctioned an allowance of R$300 relating to medical and social assistance for retirees and pensioners. However, the category claims that this is not enough and demands relief or exemption from charging the 14% fee.
