Law professor, federal judge and writer William Douglas, resident of Niterói, joined the chain of solidarity with the victims of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. He, in partnership with law professor Henderson Furst, is promoting a donation campaign on social media, based on the initiative of a group of 540 teachers, who came together to support the cause.

The fundraising campaign takes place as follows: for every R$20 or more donated to pix [email protected], volunteers will compete for more than 120 books from a legal library. In the description of the transfer via pix, the teacher asks the donor to leave a phone number or email, to facilitate the moment of contact to send the books. The draw will be live on May 15th, on Instagram: @williamdouglas.
In the video shared this Saturday (04), there are more details about the participating teachers and which books will be drawn. Among the titles are Manual of Penal Practice (Saraiva), by Leo Castro; Law – dialectic of reason. (House of Law), by Flavio Goldberg; Innovation and smart public procurement (Fórum), by Edcarlos Alves Lima; and Theory of Biolaw (Casa do Direito), by Henderson Fürst.

All the amount collected will be fully reverted to the State’s official accounts to help the residents of Rio Grande do Sul, where a public calamity has already been declared.

The number of deaths surpassed the state’s last environmental catastrophe in September 2023, when 54 people lost their lives due to the passage of an extratropical cyclone. Authorities say this is the worst climate disaster in Rio Grande do Sul’s history.
