A 35-year-old man was arrested after trying to kill his 52-year-old ex-father-in-law, in Pará de Minas, in the Central region of Minas, on Saturday night (4). The victim, who is hospitalized in serious condition, is a retired military police officer.

According to the Military Police, both have a history of disagreements. This Saturday, the man was at his ex-partner’s house, located in the Vale dos Araçás neighborhood, in Mateus Leme, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, to visit the son they have together.

The man, however, was disturbed when he noticed that his ex-father-in-law frequently passed by his stepdaughter’s residence. At one point, he left the house to get a flashlight from the car and found the retiree on the street.

They argued and the 35-year-old man pulled out a knife and an iron bar. The victim was then stabbed in the stomach and hit with metal. She fell to the floor. The suspect fled. An ambulance took the reservist to the hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.

The military began searching for the man, who was located in Pará de Minas, approximately 29 kilometers from where the crime occurred. The suspect reported that he discarded the knife in a location he no longer remembered. He was detained and taken to the police station.
