Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology) published a meteorological warning this Sunday (5) warning of low relative air humidity in seven Brazilian states, including Mato Grosso do Sul.
Classified as ‘Potential Danger’, the warning alerts the population to a health risk due to humidity that will be between 20% and 30% this Sunday. The scenario still creates a risk of forest fires.
The alert is valid until 6pm today for the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais, Paraná, São Paulo, Mato Grosso and Rio de Janeiro, in addition to Mato Grosso do Sul.
The southern state of Mato Grosso is also under heat wave alert, with a severity level classified as ‘Great Danger’. The notice ends at 6pm this Monday (6).
With the Mato Grosso do Sul region at the epicenter of the phenomenon, it is necessary to take special care of your health in the coming days, such as maintaining frequent hydration.
The main problem during the period of high temperatures and dry weather is leaving hydration aside, especially for children and the elderly. The ideal is to offer water and foods rich in mineral salts several times a day.
According to doctor Renato Figueiredo, people who have cardiopulmonary, respiratory, metabolic and cardiac diseases are also in the group that requires care.
“There are mild effects (symptoms of dehydration), such as thirst and malaise, to more serious ones, such as heart attack, fainting, disorientation, diarrhea and even coma. Children arrive at the hospital, for example, without reaction, quieter and ‘soft’, which could be a sign of dehydration. Elderly people, on the other hand, can have low cognition,” she says.
