Two patients die in ICU after flooding in Rio Grande do Sul

The flooding of an ICU in the Emergency Hospital of the municipality of Canoesat the Rio Grande do Sul, led to the death of two patients on Saturday, 4th, informed Mayor Jairo Jorge (PT). The city is among 332 affected by heavy rain since the beginning of last week.

In a video published on social media, the manager stated that there were 13 people in the ICU who needed to be transferred due to water entering the unit, which caused a power outage, which turned off the equipment. In this transposition, two patients ended up dying.

“We had one death of a person who was brain dead, and who died during this transfer, and another of a patient who threw herself from the fourth floor of the building and, due to multiple injuries, ended up dying”, informed the mayor. (Check out video below)

Initially in a telephone conversation published on the Minister of Communications’ social networks, Paulo Pimentathe manager had reported the deaths of nine patients, but later the municipality’s Health Secretary, Mauro Sparta, reported the deaths of two patients to the mayor.
