Atibaia plans actions for Anti-Asylum Fight Week: Locking up is not treating!

With the institute to promote visibility to the Anti-Asylum Fight, the City of Atibaia will carry out a series of actions, scheduled from the 13th to the 18th of May, involving services from the Health Care Network and biopsychosocial care, debates, theater and film screenings, circles conversation, among other activities that will be part of the Anti-Asylum Fight Week: Locking Up is Not Treating!

Monday in the Park: Therapeutic Freedom
The opening of the Anti-Asylum Fight Week takes place on May 13th, at Parque Edmundo Zanoni, from 8 am, with the event “Monday in the Park: Therapeutic Freedom” and conversation circles aimed at users of the Psychosocial Care Center (CAPs ), family members and other interested parties.

Mental Health Forum, theater and film
On the 15th, the “Mental Health Forum in Anti-Asylum Struggle: locking up is not treating!” will be held at the Citizenship Forum, from 8am to 5pm. Registration will be subject to space capacity. On the same day, at 8pm, at Cine Itá Cultural, the theatrical exhibition “Yayá e As Vozes do Silêncio” takes place, a show open to the public that talks about machismo, sexism, power relations and, mainly, mental health and its consequences. approaches.

On the 16th, it will be time for the film “Nise: The Heart of Madness” to be shown at the Centerplex, for students at Escola Major Alvim and staff, followed by a debate on mental health, art and culture for promotion and access to public policies. The event will feature the VaCine intersectoral action, to expand the vaccination schedule for children and adolescents (9 to 15 years old) in the public education network.

Cultural occupation “Madness doesn’t stop”
To promote a space for mental health education, on the 18th, the end of the week, there will be the Cultural Occupation “Loucura não se preda”, at USF Imperial, and the delivery of the Consultório na Rua Service, with a conversation circle with cultural collectives . All of these events aim to promote ongoing education in mental health.

Anti-Asylum Fight
National Anti-Asylum Day is celebrated on May 18th and is characterized by the fight for the rights of people with mental suffering. In Atibaia, municipal managers, educational institutions, health professionals and members of civil society will participate in the events to mark the cause, aiming to raise awareness among the community, disseminate information about risk and protective factors related to psychological distress, in addition to encouraging search for help and emotional support.
