Doctor and former BBB Amanda Meirelles, who won the Globo reality show last year, said on social media that she has been working in an ICU (Intensive Care Unit) in Rio Grande do Sul for three days. She arrived in the state, heavily affected by the storms, on Tuesday (7).
“I understand that some people want to know what the experience is like here. Some media outlets also got in touch for interviews”, began Amanda Meirelles in a video published through Instagram stories.

She then explained the situation: “Since I got here, I haven’t left the ICU yet. I’m in the Intensive Care Unit. Here, we have patients who are more vulnerable, critical, sedated, intubated.”

Amanda stressed that, in this context, she cannot share photos or videos. “It doesn’t make sense for me to expose it. Many of them are only protected by a small apron. We are preserving patient images.”
“I show up to say what we need, encouraging donations. On the day I’m not in the ICU, I can show you the city. However, that is not my intention. My intention is to come here, work, help with my work and show you what we really need.”

This week, in addition to Amanda, former BBBs Marcela McGowan and Thelma Assis, who are also doctors and participated in the program in 2020, went to Rio Grande do Sul. The state has been devastated by heavy rains since the end of April.
