The National Social Security Council (CNPS) announced excellent news for INSS retirees and pensioners: the approval of a significant reduction in interest on payroll loansproviding financial relief to thousands of beneficiaries.

The measure aims to make credit more accessible to this portion of the population, thus, the loan will be cheaper, with the ceiling going from 1.76% per month to 1.72%. For credit cards and benefit payroll cards, the rate will be 2.55% per month.

Cheapest loan
The resolution was published in the Official Gazette of the Union with the determination of the fee. Now, banks are prohibited from offering loans and cards with interest rates higher than the rate. This reduction is happening in accordance with the reduction in the Selic basic interest rate, which is 11.25%.
INSS loan
The payroll loan is an option in which INSS retirees and pensioners can request amounts with a direct discount on their benefits.
Thus, the Maximum monthly income commitment limit is 45%divided into 35% for the personal loan, 5% for the credit card and 5% for the benefit card, with the possibility of paying in installments over up to 84 months, that is, seven years.
The interest on these loans is limited, that is, the financial institution can charge less, but cannot charge more than the rate, whose rules are controlled by the Social Security Council.

The payroll loan is a type of credit in which the installments are deducted directly from the payroll of the person requesting it, be it a formal worker, retirees or INSS pensioners. This discount is done automaticallyeven before the salary or benefit is made available in the bank account.
